with everyone you know who may benefit, including Veterans, caregivers, service members and survivors.

We're making millions of Veterans eligible for VA health care under the PACT Act. Here’s what YOU need to know.

  • If you served in Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq, or Afghanistan, you can enroll.
  • If you deployed to any combat zone after 9/11, you can enroll.
  • If you deployed in support of the Global War on Terror, you can enroll.
  • And even if you never deployed but were exposed to toxins or hazards while training or serving on active duty here at home—by working with chemicals, pesticides, lead, asbestos, certain paints, nuclear weapons, x-rays, and more—you can enroll, too.

Bottom line: all Veterans who meet the minimum service requirements and were exposed to toxins and other hazards—at home or abroad—are eligible to enroll in VA care.

VA provides the best and most affordable health care for Veterans in America – and this is your chance to apply. Veterans who are enrolled in VA health care are proven to have better health outcomes than those who get their care elsewhere. And copays can be as low as $0 for prescriptions, urgent care, outpatient care, and more.

Choosing VA means getting everything you need in one spot. Come see why 90% of patients said they trust VA for their health care. Even if you don’t need this care today, you may need it tomorrow, or the next day, or 30 years from now. And once you’re in, you have access for life.

From The California Legionnaire,

The top Veterans news beats over the last week, starting with… The Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee advanced three separate bills tackling toxic exposure, VA disaster readiness, and benefits for Veterans who underwent classified drug or chemical testing during their service.

All three bills demonstrated early bipartisan support, but the current gridlock in Congress poses a potential obstacle.

Details on all three bills in the article link below.

More Articles This Week

  • Dept. of California Aerospace Commission technical advisor Kevin Burns explains the Aerospace Committee’s role, and both its historical significance and far reaching influence in new Op-Ed. “According to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, space is now a contested warfighting domain,” Burns writes. “As global competition accelerates and adversaries expand their counter-space capabilities, the United States faces an urgent challenge: strengthen the national security space ecosystem while accelerating innovation across the industrial base.”

  • Staff writer Rikki Almanza breaks down a new (as of Jan. 1) benefit for Disabled Veterans: The ABLE Age Adjustment Act paved the way for Veterans with disabilities that, critically, fit Social Security’s definition to open and use ABLE accounts without risking existing benefits. More details in the article below—or visit California’s dedicated hub at CalABLE.

  • The VA has announced $112 million in potential funding as part of its Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. Last year's grant awardees helped 17,000 Veterans, Service Members, and family members through connecting participants with vital mental health care services and resources as well as boosting enrollment in VA health care—now associated with a decreased risk of suicide.

Quick California Veterans News Bites

  • CalVet is now accepting submissions—such as events hosted by Legion posts—for this year’s Memorial Day calendar. Larger events are more likely to be accepted for display; however, there are no strict requirements for inclusion (other than honoring Veterans).

That’s all for this week. Signing off,
