Hello and welcome to the Post 642 Adjutants Page:

Updating Personal Info in MyLegion.org

With the start of 2026, this is a great opportunity for members to check out their personal data on mylegion.org to ensure all the information is up to date. It’s quick and easy, go to mylegion.org if you already have a login then click on the icon and once you are logged in, click on my account. This will take you to your my account page. On the left is where the various sections of your account information are stored. Click on each of those sections, review the info, and make any additions, changes as required. Once this is saved it will be uploaded into the Legion database. While you are there you can subscribe to various email newsletters and dispatches to receive the latest Legion happenings.  Those who do not yet have an account, once you are on the mylegion.org page click on the register icon and follow the instructions to register. Once you have registered, then follow the instructions above for account holders. I will be sending out hard copies of legion members’ info for those who have not yet provided their email addresses or do not have email.

ADJUTANT'S UPDATE

I write this on a nice rainy afternoon here in San Jose, enjoying the views from my study. I wanted to let everyone know that Post 642 had probably the biggest turnout of all Post at this years Four Chaplains Inter-Faith Memorial Service. Vince Guinnane played the bag pipes during the ceremony. Dennis Whittaker and I carried the Colors and our Post flag and Bill Reichard was in attendance too. For those who never attended this event, I highly recommend it. This year my wife Carmen attended. She’s used to me disappearing for a few hours to attend this event over the years and this year decided to also attend. Her take was that the event was very informative and she enjoyed the choir singing during the event. After the event we headed across the street for a late breakfast/brunch and saw other Legionnaires at the restaurant. Here is the link of some of the photos of the event,

We are still looking for a new finance officer. I am currently filling in while the search continues, if you or someone you know of the American Legion who would like to step up and become the Finance officer please let me know. As previously mentioned it is not time consuming and is a great way to support our Post and help the Post continue to move forward. In the meantime I am working on this years budget and expect to present it to our Post at the April Meeting.

American Legion Pillar #3 Americanism: Promotes patriotism, civic duty, and education through programs like Boys State, Boy Scouts of America, and advocating for flag protection.

Our Post sponsors (pays for program, transportation) for High School Juniors at the annual Boys/Girls State each summer in Sacramento. Regarding this years Boys/Girls State sponsorship by our Post, I should note that the application window is now closed and we have 9 High School Juniors who have applied for this summers program. We had been expecting our Post to receive anywhere from 4-7 slots for this years event, unfortunately we only have 3 sponsorship slots. George Midwin and I will be interviewing these 9 students the first two weeks of March. If you would like to assist with the interviews please shoot me an email or give me a call.
